On campus/New Zealand-based students

Required documents
What is a verified document?
An officially verified document is a photocopy of an original document that has been signed and dated by an authorised person who can confirm that it is identical to the original. This could be a Justice of the Peace, solicitor, barrister, court registrar, school principal, official of the issuing institution (either in New Zealand or overseas), a Trade New Zealand Offshore Education Centre, or an embassy, high commission, Notary public, or consulate general.
This person will need to see the original document and verify that the photocopy is a genuine, unaltered copy. They will then sign, date, and stamp the photocopy with an official stamp or write 'certified original sighted, and this is a true copy of that original.
University staff at the Student Administration desk on campus or the University of Waikato registered educational staff can also verify your documents.
You may submit scanned copies of verified documents for assessment purposes, but you will need to provide hard copies or scanned verified documents prior to enrolment. Please check your offer letter to see what you need to provide.

When you arrive on campus
If you are studying at our Hamilton campus, make your way to the Administration counter on Level 2 of the Student Centre.
If you are studying at our Tauranga campus, make your way to the Student Hub on Level 1.
Make sure you have all of the required documents (visa and passport) available for our enrolment team to complete your enrolment as quickly as possible.

Obtain your student ID
Once your enrolment is complete, we will need a photograph of you to produce your Student ID Card.

Scholarship students
For students who are on a home government scholarship, it is important that you come to International Student Services Office (located in the Student Centre) and meet with your dedicated International Student Adviser. They will be able to offer specialist support and advice while you are studying as it relates to your scholarship.
Student Exchange and Study Abroad students
The International Student Services Office provides support for incoming students who attend the University of Waikato and a dedicated Exchange and Study Abroad Advisor for your time here.
The Advisor will contact you prior to your arrival, provide an information session on your arrival and will remain in contact throughout the trimester. You will receive an email from the advisor providing you with information on where to go to complete your enrolment and what you will need to bring.
Pathways to University of Waikato degrees
International students undertaking the Certificate of Attainment in Foundation Studies, International Diploma, Diploma in Postgraduate Preparation and English Language Programmes are asked to go to the University of Waikato College at the Hamilton Campus. We will need to see your visa, so remember to bring your passport.
