Manually Grade Moodle Lessons

For staff on how to grade Moodle Lessons.

Note

For a Lesson to be graded:

  • it must have at least one question where a student can receive a score
  • it cannot be a practice lesson

Only essay type questions, if included in a Moodle Lesson, need to be manually graded. Grades are calculated when the student has completed a lesson and kept for every student attempt.

 

Grading lesson essays

If a lesson essay question type has been included, follow the steps below to access and review each student’s submission.

  1. Log in to Moodle, select the paper, then select the lesson you wish to grade.
  2. Select Grade essays at the top of the preview page.
  3. On the next page, you will see all the completed essay submissions. The status will show as "Not graded".
  4. Select the essay you want to grade.
  5. Enter your comments and select the Essay score from the drop-down menu.
  6. Finally, select Save changes.
