Why study the Postgraduate Diploma in Management?
The Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDipMgmt) is designed for those who want to gain advanced knowledge in a specialist field of management, along with general business acumen, without having to complete a full master’s degree.
With this one-year qualification (120 points), you can select from endorsements in either Agribusiness, Business Analytics, Project Management, or Supply Chain Management.
The PGDipMgmt will prepare you to progress into management roles or transition into new areas of business with confidence.
If you decide later that you'd prefer to complete the Master of Management instead, you can extend your studies with an additional 60 points of papers.

To be admitted to the Postgraduate Diploma in Management, you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree from the University of Waikato, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university; and you have completed study at an advanced level in the subject to be taken for the Postgraduate Diploma in Management; OR
- relevant training, experience and ability to proceed with the programme.
- satisfied the prerequisites for graduate study in the subject being taken for the Postgraduate Diploma.

You meet the criteria for entry based on academic merit and relevant experience, subject to the completion of any qualifying papers prescribed by the Academic Board. This is considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of Waikato Management School.

Agribusiness graduates will be able to:
- Evaluate the values that flow from food systems and earth systems, including from Pākehā and Māori perspectives.
- Analyse shocks, trends and innovations in food consumption.
- Identify and analyse consumers' perceptions, attitudes, motivations and behaviours towards food.
- Identify and estimate food market segments and the determinants of demand for food and food quality.
- Identify and analyse the environmental impacts associated with food processing, trade, and consumption, at a national and global scale.
- Identify points of leverage and utilise them to design more sustainable food systems for the benefit of stakeholders.
- Evaluate investment opportunities, financial returns and risks in agriculture.
- Produce credible financial analyses for agribusinesses that incorporate interactions between biophysical systems and financial outcomes.
- Analyse the impact of alternative management practices, policy decisions, biophysical shocks and economic shocks on international and local agri-food systems.
