Course content

Our Masters in Business and Management is designed to be a practical, relevant, challenging and inspiring learning experience.

There are a total of 11 papers in the course and you will have about 30 hours of classes and learning per week.

Learning is through a mix of classroom lectures, real-world case studies, group assignments, video, social media, creative problem solving and reflective learning.

For one of your assignments, students work in small teams to undertake a virtual consultancy project for a local business. These projects are managed by Waikato Management School with input from the host organisations.

Students will also develop applied business research skills by working individually on a case study, and then writing a business research report.

For the Integrative Learning Project, you will work in small teams to develop a business plan for your own entrepreneurial start-up business, and then pitch your ideas to a group of senior business leaders in a 'Dragons' Den'-style situation.

We can also provide students and recent graduates with career tools and support to help you on your job-hunting journey.

Please note:

The Waikato MBM qualification does NOT provide the depth of specialised study that is required for admission to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Master of Business and Management graduates who wish to proceed to advanced research or doctoral study will need to complete additional research methodology and postgraduate papers.
