Braemar Charitable Trust's support to further health aims at Waikato

Braemar Charitable Trust is a Waikato based and focused charitable trust and owner of Braemar Hospital in Hamilton one of New Zealand’s leading private surgical hospitals. Its vision is to improve health outcomes in the Waikato region, with a particular focus on reducing inequalities and improving access to health services.

To achieve this, the Trust invests in medical research, develops medical knowledge through funding clinical professional development, health leadership, and providing scholarships for health sector-related education. It also collaborates with other organisations in the region who are improving health outcomes.

The Trust also provides free surgical procedures at Braemar Hospital for patients who don’t otherwise qualify for treatment or whose needs are not being met in a timely way in the public health system, and do not have the means of covering the cost of private treatment.

Chris O’Meeghan, chair of Braemar Charitable Trust (pictured with trust manager Paula Baker), says the Trust is excited to partner with the University to grow health capability in the Waikato region and encourage and support great students into the health sector.
