Waikato Management School runs a number of key events every year that are open to secondary school students, teachers, and the general public.
These provide a great opportunity to discover the business qualifications that we offer, learn what kind of skills you will develop while studying here, and how these will enhance your future career prospects.
We also showcase some of the country’s leading economists, business leaders and policy experts at our annual New Zealand Economics Forum.
Waikato Management School Case Competition
The legendary WMS Case Competition, launched in 1996, is part of the capstone paper for the Bachelor of Business. Competing for a cash prize, students work in teams to develop an innovative business strategy for a real NZ company.
New Zealand Economics Forum
Featuring a stellar lineup of top economists, business and government leaders, this annual two-day event is proudly hosted by WMS. The forum is open to anyone who is interested in the main economic challenges facing New Zealand today.
Leadership Academy
The WMS Leadership Academy supports self-motivated year 13 students to grow their leadership capability, confidence and character. Students learn alongside their talented peers and will benefit from world-class leadership development training.
Future of Accounting
This annual careers event is for secondary school students who are interested in a future career in accounting. Hear from senior business leaders and recent graduates about the skills and qualifications you need to get started in this exciting profession.
PR Campaigns Competition
The WMS Public Relations Campaigns Competition asks teams of third-year public relations students to develop and pitch a strategic communication plan for a real client organisation. Each team’s final plan is then judged by a panel of industry experts.
